Design: Gardenia Traditionally these beautiful covers are lovingly hand stitched for special occasions such as weddings, christenings and hair cutting ceremonies within the Cook Island community. Tivaevae manu uses two layers of different coloured fabric, the top layer is folded in four or eight, designs are cut out snowflake fashion, then hand stitched to the background. More than one colour can also be used for the pattern. Because Tivaevae are hand-made, we do not recommend washing them. Consult a dry cleaner before attempting any cleaning.
